Scientists from Zhejiang University and Stanford University jointly established “health +” platform

On November 1st, 2018, scientists from Zhejiang University and Stanford University jointly established a “health +” platform. Through collaborative effects in the next three years, the two universities will enhance the mechanism of productivity for the platform and will together apply for grants and resources, strengthen the personals support, and promote translational sciences.  

 

It is known that the “health +” platform covers the fields of preventive medicine, public administration, clinical medicine, computation science, agriculture etc., having more than 50 scholars participated. In 2018, this projected was granted by “Zhejiang University strategic plan of cooperating with top world-class universities”.

 

As one of the principle investigators, Prof. ZHU Shankuan from the Department of Nutrition and Food Hygiene, School of Public Health, Zhejiang University, comments that the platform has started overall five international collaborative research projects on metabolomics, gut microbiome, fatty liver, ophthalmology, and wellness, submitted several paper together, and developed 3 top international research teams that study ophthalmology and chronic diseases, preventive medicine and artificial intelligence, and obesity and chronic diseases. Meanwhile, the “health+” platform has planned to build a big data platform for residents in Hangzhou.

 

The “health+” platform was built based on the collaborative lab (Co-lab) that was established between Zhejiang University and Stanford University in 2017. The Co-lab has integrated the strengths of the two universities and worked together on the “Well China” population study, which focused on public health. Originated from the “Well China project”, there are multiple new projects are initiating now to collaboratively build the “health+” platform.
